Carlos J. Deupi is a corporate securities and property lawyer with 25+ years of AmLaw 100 legal experience working for major US law firms. He is the founder and Managing Partner of the Deupi Law Group, advising on general corporate, financing, commercial, transactional, real property and compliance matters.
He has represented numerous multinational corporations, financial institutions, private equity funds, real estate firms, family offices and high net worth individuals in a variety of legal functions, including M&A, investment fund formation, investments, financings, workouts and dispositions, amounting to several billion dollars in transaction value. He also has significant experiences in structuring real estate, hospitality and infrastructure transactions including investments, financing, property acquisitions and dispositions, commercial leasing, construction and development.
Mr. Deupi is Chairman Emeritus of the Miami Finance Forum, a leading nonprofit networking association of investment and finance professionals in South Florida. He is currently a Member of the Board of Directors, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of that association. He is a member of several committees and sections of the American Bar Association and a member of the International Law Section (ILS) of the Florida Bar. He is a frequent speaker at finance and investment conferences.
He has been AV-rated by Martindale Hubbell since 2000, the highest possible ranking from this renowned legal rating organization. In 2011, Mr. Deupi was selected as an honoree for the South Florida Business Journal’s Key Partners Award, a distinction for preeminent lawyers in South Florida who have provided high quality of service with the highest levels of professionalism and ethics.
Mr. Deupi received a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania in 1985. He graduated from Boston College Law School in 1988, where he was Articles and Citations Editor of the Boston College Third World International Law Journal.
He has been admitted to practice law in New York, California, the District of Columbia and Florida.
Lisa Sohayegh Weitz is a corporate/finance attorney with 8 years of experience working at prominent multi-national law firms in New York City and Miami. Lisa is of counsel at Deupi Law Group advising on general corporate, corporate finance, governance, commercial, transactional, and lending transactions.
Ms. Weitz has represented both private and public entities in a wide range of general corporate and corporate finance transactions, including secured and unsecured commercial lending, project finance, mergers and acquisitions, investment fund formation, and asset-based and real estate lending. She has handled private equity investments, corporate governance, and private mergers and acquisitions. In the energy sector, Ms. Weitz has represented both sponsors and borrowers in financing the development, acquisition and operation of numerous electricity generating facilities including wind and solar powered projects.
Ms. Weitz received a B.S. cum laude in Finance and Marketing, with a minor in Spanish, from the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University. She received a J.D. from the Yeshiva University Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where she was an Editor of the Cardozo Journal of Conflict Resolution and Senator of her class.
Ms. Weitz has been admitted to practice law in New York and Florida and in two U.S. District Courts.
